I love animals and this Earth, rivers, fields, trees, fresh air, water, sunshine.
We are all drawn to causes, and to act on their behalf.
Everyday little things add up and do make a difference.

Take your own coffee mug or re-usable water bottle to work and meetings. Some keep a favorite in their car. And some art-fair lovers like me even have coffee mugs that MATCH with what we're wearing each day.
Together, we reduce wasted cups in landfills, AND also enjoy fresh hot coffee in personal mugs...some of them artist-made. Little things ....
We each make a difference, together. Thank you.
HUMANE SOCIETY AMBASSADOR
CAT Care Specialist / Socializer / Volunteer It started in December 2009 when my husband and I adopted a little black cat named Mo (Mozambique) from Elmbrook Humane Society. She'd been in the system a long time, waiting for us. Soon after, I started volunteering.
Who knew there was a volunteer role called 'cat socializer?' Dog walkers too. (Check it out.) I also learned how much of a difference it makes to shelter animals to have that extra love and attention. So, a few hours a week, you'll find me at the shelter cat "socializing" (and sometimes transporting and dishes).
Volunteers help shelter cats get out and stretch and receive some extra TLC and play time. When 'Mo' joined us, I saw how she stretched a lot, big long stretches.
It's good knowing we are helping prepare these sweet things for the person or family who will love and adopt them. Elmbrook Humane Society is a no-kill shelter, and it's a good place with good people.

Lankie and Mo
Volunteer at a shelter... Good for the animals and for ourselves. Mo (under the chair) was a shelter cat. Now I volunteer there when I can. Who knew there was such a role as cat socializer / cat-care specialist / cat transporter to area partnering pet supply places. (Area Petco, Petsmart have helped lots more shelter animals find homes.)

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

When someone asks me to contribute to a cause that provides funding for 'research,' I want to know what kind of research. In many cases, 'research' is not a compassionate choice for animals. And there ARE alternatives, options that honor my heart.
